Job took 7 months and truck is in worse condition than before. Charles is a liar.
Back in April of this year I took my truck to Charles with Summers Radiator and Auto Service Repair and let me say, boy did I make a mistake. My timing chain jumped and needed to be replaced. I called around and got quotes from other local shops as well and decided to bring it here. Again, what a huge mistake. It is now nearly 7 months down the road and my truck is in worse condition than it was before I took it to him.
After about 5 and a half months of him having the truck he finally tells me my truck is ready. The quote came in over double what he originally told me it would cost me. I couldn't understand that reasoning as I provided all of the parts. The only thing he did was the labor. After he dropped the price by $500 it was still over double the original quote. I sucked it up and paid it. I informed him I would be putting it on a credit card as I didn't budget for the price to be double what he originally quoted me. He informed me that he doesn't take credit cards because he's had issues with people disputing the charges. I think I know why now. I made it about 4-5 miles before my truck shut off with a whole new issue that I hadn't had before bringing it into his shop. He sent his mechanic to come look at to tell me I had a bad mass airflow sensor and that it was an easy fix. So I bought the MAF and sent it back to him and he replaced it. A few days later, I get the truck back with the exact same issue. My truck just keeps dying on me. I was then told it was a problem with my throttle body and correlating sensors. So instead of paying this crook more money I decided I would change the sensors and clean the throttle body myself. Truck ran fine for a few days. Then BAM! I heard a loud metal clunk/grinding noise and have two other mechanics look at it and tell me the timing chain had jumped again as it wasn't completely in time. I contacted Charles and he swore up and down there was no way the timing chain was out of time. So he looked at it again. Another few weeks. I was then advised metal shavings were in my oil tank and I would need to change and flush my oil with motor flush anywhere from 5-6 times and change the VVT sensor. No problem, I can change that sensor and do the oil changes. So the same day I pick it up he told me that it would need upwards of 20 oil changes (yes, twenty) and need to replace the VVT sensor. it died on me 4 times on the way home. I ordered the sensor and went to advance auto parts and picked up the motor flush, 5 qts of oil and a filter. Before I could even get the sensor replaced, now my air has stopped working completely, I get an alert saying AC OFF followed by another alert of "ENGINE HOT" with the temp gauge maxed out followed by billowing smoke. 7 months of my time and money wasted for my truck to be in worse condition than it was when I dropped it off at this "shop".
On a side note, he can't keep any mechanics but the current mechanic he has he tells me is ASE certified where as the owner is only "Ford" certified. This dude shouldn't be a mechanic as I feel I know more than him.
He will now have another disputed charge as I paid thousands of dollars for a job that left my truck in a worse condition. Charles, if you see this and you want to try to take me to court, be my guest. I can promise you I will win this one.
Long story short, please don't take your vehicle here unless you want to be without it for an extended period of time, lied to, charged more than quoted and generally have your time wasted. The taco bell employees up the road could of fixed my truck better than this guy.

Just more money.also found out they charged more than what the parts actually cost.I also want to mention I had someone else to come look at it after he left, and this guy said he had to TIGHTENED some things that the summers boy didnt do. Spoke with Mary. She said when she picked up the vehicle she assumed that someone from the business had test drove it but nobody did. When her nephew started driving it home, the caliber locked up on him so he took it back and the staff fixed it right away.
Spoke with Rita. She said the representatives are really nice people who do a good job. her vehicle. She said this business doesn't fiddle faddle around, they got the job done and she wouldn't go anywhere else. This business is convenient.
