Smith's Auto Repair of Augusta was originally founded in November of 1969 as a full-service gas station known then as US 25 Shell by Jimmy Smith. The full-service gas station consisted of three service bays and sold Shell brand fuel. As the fuel service market began to stray from full-service fuel and automotive repair toward self-service Smith's Auto Repair of Augusta was originally founded in November of 1969 as a full-service gas station known then as US 25 Shell by Jimmy Smith. The full-service gas station consisted of three service bays and sold Shell brand fuel. As the fuel service market began to stray from full-service fuel and automotive repair toward self-service fuel and convenience store packages, Jimmy and his son David chose loyalty to their skillset and passion, adapting with the market and moving to the current location, 3327 Peach Orchard Rd in 1992, where they have been able to service the automotive repair needs of their clients in a greater capacity. Only a block away from where it all began their current location allowed them to offer an array of services to clients that were not offered at US 25 Shell. It is remarkable to hear stories from customers of old, those that remember what business was like with the Smith family in the 1970’s, when David was a young boy, those they have retained for three and four generations. Currently, the shop hosts three generations of Smiths, all with a different skill set, a different mindset but with the same goal, to remain humble and grateful for the opportunity to serve and retain clientele.
