Unfair & Deceptive Practices violations of the NC Motor Vehicle Repair Act
I took vehicle in for simple brake pad repair, was told by shop owner that I had a leak on the axle that needed to be fixed. The man told me he knew exactly how to FIX the vehicle. He misrepresented himself and his abilities to perform the job. He did the same repair TWICE and it leaked both times. In fact, it was a worse leak, plus the ABS warning light and brake light warning light came on. Next the brake caliper fell off while we were coming down the mountain around 55mph! Two years of promises to fix the vehicle and it was never done. He actually wanted me to buy MORE PARTS for him to install and waste. The invoices are falsified and do not indicate work actually performed. Parts numbers are absent so that I don't know what parts were used. After a BBB complaint, taking it to H&H Automotive in Charlotte NC (highly recommend) for a proper repair, and a court case filed, Sebski's Automotive owner finally had his attorney give me the parts kit # he installed on the Toyota Land Cruiser the night before the case. What do you know? It was only a partial kit and not capable of EVER fixing the problem. In fact, the mechanic who actually fixed the vehicle said the kit SEBSKI'S AUTOMOTIVE installed does not keep oil in, it really is designed to keep dust out. The ONE PART that was essential to stop the leak was NEVER installed on the vehicle! He blamed the failed installation on EVERYTHING except his lack of knowledge and experience. I do not recommend this shop anymore. And I apologize to anyone in the past who I told to go there because there were many people I sent to this shop. I trusted the owner because I thought he was honest and accountable. In court the owner lied and said he could not 'REMEMBER" if he told us we could keep driving the vehicle. This was an outright lie. No integrity. Absolute waste of time and money. RUN!
