Thank you Precision!
Had a rattle coming from one of our tires making our way to SD from Arizona. Made sure to get it checked out before we drove back, ended up being a loose wheel bearing. They were able to assess the problem and fix it same day and we were able to make it back without having to extend our trip. Great customer service, super helpful and informative through the repair process. Definitely would recommend for anyone needing timely repairs.

Bad Smog Test
I have been going to the El Cajon Precision Auto Tune for many years for smog test but will not go back. I took my 20002 GMC truck in for a smog test on April 23, 2019. I was told that my truck had failed smog because my Catalytic converters (Cats) had been tampered with and it had 4 Cats on it instead of the required 2. It was recommended that the 2 extra Cats be removed and a straight pipe be welded in place of each one of them at an estimated cost of ~$250. This modification would be an obvious violation of the (CARB) California Air Research Board certification of my Cat system. The supposedly 2 extra Cats are actually required pre-Cats. If they would have cut out the 2 required pre-Cats and welded in a straight pipe as suggested they would have destroyed my entire Cat system! (A $1200 system plus installation labor) and my truck would NEVER have passed smog!! When I told them that the truck had been smog tested there at least 5 times prior with the same Cats they said some new law had been passed out-lawing my Cats.(BS) I told them I had looked up the model # of the Cats on my truck and showed them a picture of them and they were the right ones. I told them of six different current web sites that were selling them as correct California approved Cats. They still insisted they were not correct. We were under my truck and could clearly see the model number of the Cats. California Air Resources Board has a website of approved California Catalytic Converters. All you have to do is input the Smog Test Group Name Number (a number identifying which smog system your vehicle has) which is located under the hood of my truck and it gives you a list of approved California Catalytic Converters. My Cats were on the APPROVED LIST. Were they too stupid to do this? Why was I given such a run around? They never said that they had made a mistake. I just got a lot of double talk. Somehow after all my arguing, my truck with the supposedly wrong Cats got smog tested and passed. I have been a mechanic all my life, my brother was a mechanic and my father ran a body shop his entire life. We all make mistakes. Some of us admit it. Beware.
