Fuel Feed Pipe Fitting Leak
My car had a smell of gas fumes after driving it. At first I thought it was a bad gas cap which I replaced but the smell continued. I then took my car to a local auto repair shop were they identified where the fuel leak was coming from( Fuel Feed Pipe Fitting). The shop tried locating the replacement part calling the car manufacturer dealership and looking at other resources online. The part was discontinued and finding a replacement was impossible. They suggest to take it to the dealership where they could use its nationwide resources from other dealerships for the replacement part. I took it to the dealership and they believed that the Fitting clip was put on wrong and they didn't see a leak after readjusting the clip. That adjustment only lasted a day. I took it back to the dealership and after a couple of days there they couldn't locate the discontinued fuel pipe. It was suggested to take the car to a fabrication shop. Because I couldn't drive the car I had it towed back to my house. The tow truck driver made a call to a auto shop and they recommended a possible shop that could fix it. I contacted the auto shop but the work needed it fix the issue wasn't something they did but they knew of a shop that could. I contacted the shop and while they were confident they could fix it they couldn't get to it for months. They recommended All Auto and Truck Specialist. I gave them a call and the owner(Perry) felt it was a job they could do. So we made an appointment for me to bring in the car. Perry looked at the issue and felt that it was the O-Ring. He ordered the special O-Rings and made the repair. He explained to me how bad the shape of the original o-rings were and that the replacement o-rings tightened the fitting. I've been driving the cars for a few days now with no issues. I told Perry his shop will be my goto auto shop. Perry is easy to talk with and he made me comfortable that he is very knowledgeable in his craft.
