I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. I put it into this shop for an exhaust leak. They came back & said the exhaust manifold had a crack & needed replaced. They quoted $500 something unless there were complications which at that time they said might go up to $1100 something. Then they came back and said they couldn't get the bolts out of the head and needed to send it to the machine shop to have the bolts drilled out and quoted $1400 something. Then when it was said & done the final price was over $1700.
The machine shop got the bolts out so the head didn't need replaced. On my invoice, there is no mention of replacing the exhaust manifold. Come to find out that they didn't replace the exhaust manifold because it wasn't cracked. Apparently the bolts were corroded and not holding the exhaust manifold in place. My husband had to go to the shop to find this out though. He also had to ask them for my key because no one told me that they put it under my floor mat.
Then when I get the invoice I notice they did a full service oil change and charged me for it even though I did not request it. There is no way (based on the price) that they used the type of oil I use (Mobil1 full synthetic). They never asked me what kind of oil I use. So now I have paid for the oil change but I still have to change it out to what I actually use. So the amount they charged for the oil change is a waste of money because they didn't ask what kind of oil I use and now I have the change it. Come to find out they used a semi-synthetic oil because I didn't request a special kind. How is a non-mechanical person supposed to know they need to request a special kind of oil?
There is no way for me, a non mechanical person, to know if the job was done right or wrong. However I do know this is NOT the way business should be done!!! Do NOT use this shop for your vehicles.
