We have taken my wife's Volvo in for 2 issues: Both times the charges were exorbitant, and each time we were notified that they had found additional repairs necessary (we found these claims dubious at best). The last service (and this is, truly, the final time they will work on my wife's car), they charged us $615 for a thermostat (the part itself can be purchased on-line for approx. $30). They then called my wife to say they found a coolant hose leak that added $160 to the total. We had noticed no leaks on the driveway; however, they told us it should be fixed. The total for a $30 thermostat and a $60 hose: $775. Be extremely wary of this service department, and get several quotes before you take your car to Magna Motors/Evansville Volvo.
