Greedy
On April 29, 2025, I delivered my vehicle to Luxe Auto Body Shop, for repairs. At that time, I provided a check in the amount of $1,883.59, issued by the at-fault party’s insurance company, as an initial payment toward the repair costs. However, no repairs were performed on my vehicle. Instead, the shop later demanded an excessive storage fee of $3,490. The insurance company initially approved only $706 for storage but ultimately paid the full $3,490 on May 13, 2025, in order to retrieve the vehicle. The shop then released the vehicle to the insurance company's towing service. Since Luxe Auto Body Shop has been fully compensated by the insurance company, I am requesting the return of the $1,883.59 that I originally paid. The shop has refused to refund this amount. On May 20, 2025, I followed up in person and was told by a manager named Sebastian that I could come in to collect a refund check. However, when I arrived, Sebastian increased the total storage charges to $5,100, despite the vehicle already being released and the insurance already having paid $3,490. This appears to be retaliatory behavior in response to my insistence on a refund. Sebastian also claimed their storage fee is $300 per day, but I photographed signage at the business stating $250 per day. This inconsistency raises concerns about deceptive billing practices. Furthermore, I was threatened that their company would come after me to collect an additional $2,344.10, even though they did no repair work and were already paid for storage. I believe this is a case of unethical, retaliatory, and predatory behavior toward a consumer.
