I heard some squeaking noise on my drivers side I got a diagnosis from the mechanic it was determined be in his words lower control arm and recommended by the mechanic a sway bar link I have extended warranty that covers those items.I understand that it can be up-charge for the parts which can be as high as 30 percent. I needed an itemized receipt meaning I need the receipt to reflect the time spent for labor and parts for my files and also for the warranty company he refused. It set off alarm. I spoke with him the phone for about a hour he was irate using statements like where do you live I would come to your house l felt like I was going to be assaulted because he was angry,Can you count do you know what a warranty is I was very offended. The overall bill was 790 dollars. If you research pricing AutoZone up to GM with a 50 percent up-charge. The parts still would not have been that expensive for low quality parts.I familiar with the parts and labor requirements for the job it’s almost equivalent to changing a tire, you can drop an engine in two in half hours.I am not against an up charge but over 200 percent up charge for parts and labor is uncommon It wouldn’t cost that much at GM.According to the the owner of the shop it was 33 percent up charge but if you add it up that way more than 33 percent

Hello Mr. Boyd, I hope all is well. The vehicle was diagnosed by us, and we provided you with multiple options regarding how you wanted to proceed with the repair. Your extended warranty only offered partial coverage, meaning it did not cover the entire final repair cost. The price provided to you included parts, labor, diagnosis, and the deductible paid by the customer.

Regarding the receipt, one was provided to you after the work was completed, including a breakdown of the work performed and the associated charges.

I’m sorry that you felt uncomfortable during our phone conversation. That was never my intention. I will acknowledge that I was being very direct during our conversation, but this was after an extended discussion where we were going back and forth regarding the repair, warranty coverage, pricing, and how you wanted to proceed. My intention was to be straightforward and make sure you understood your options, not to make you feel threatened or disrespected.

I also want to clarify the comparison regarding repair times. There is no engine/motor that can simply be physically removed from a vehicle and replaced in 2–3 hours. Engine removal involves disconnecting numerous electrical connections, fluids, exhaust components, mounts, accessories, and other components, followed by installation and testing. Repair times vary significantly depending on the vehicle and the work being performed.

I would also like to clarify the statement regarding a “200% markup.” That is not an accurate representation of how the final price was calculated. The total quoted to you was not simply the cost of the parts with a 200% markup added. The final amount reflected the parts, labor, diagnostic time, and the customer’s warranty deductible, along with the associated costs of completing the repair. Comparing our total repair invoice directly to an individual parts price from AutoZone or another retailer does not provide an accurate comparison.
