Moving forward when I spoke with HR, I told them I would follow up with a PCP once I was eligible for benefits. I was told I could not be hired until I followed up, and that my offer was contingent on the follow-up. How high blood sugar would affect my ability to answer phone calls for a customer service position, I will never know. I refused to follow up with a PCP when I didn't have the job guaranteed in the first place. I told HR this seems like medical discrimination because if the ARNP was actually concerned with my blood sugar levels, she could have referred me to quest diagnostics for a hemoglobin A1C test. This is exactly what a PCP would have done. My whole experience with HR and the clinic they referred me to for the drug test and physical was discriminatory, if not predatory. They thought they could get over on me, I may be fat but I definitely am not stupid. Save yourself the time and energy and apply somewhere else.
