Response to Miguel Cordero:
Mr. Cordero – It was Harry’s COMPASSION for you- not the other way around that compelled him to pay the $5000.00 to you for the loss of your UNINSURED vehicle. That’s right, the vehicle didn’t even have insurance and he still paid you $5000.00 for the loss of the vehicle. He didn’t have to but he did. You did not go to court because you KNEW that the vehicle didn’t have any insurance on the vehicle at the time you left the vehicle to be repaired. It’s YOUR responsibility to put insurance on your vehicle. It also came out that the vehicle was already sold to someone else so YOU owed that someone else money for something that you could not produce. Harry took pity on you not the other way around. He was also very respectful to you every time you showed up at his place of business unannounced asking him for money the questionable theft situation of said vehicle.
To this day as far as we understand there is no real proof that a theft took place versus some other type of situation. As for any personal property in the vehicle, that is NOT attached to the vehicle, that property is covered through a Renters or a Homeowners policy. NOT by the owner of an AUTO REPAIR Garage. Harry’s Automotive Inc does not have that reputation and you know it. You took advantage of Harry Iverson and you know it.
When you were made aware of the repairs having been completed you never came to retrieve the vehicle right away even though you claimed it was a high theft vehicle type that folks would like to steal. Since you didn’t have the money to pay for the Repair Order you simply assumed Harry’s garage would be your storage place for the vehicle until you could pay for the repairs.
That’s not how Auto Repairs Garages work!
You lived less than a block away from Harry’s Automotive Inc-at the old location- yet you let the vehicle sit at the Auto Repair parking lot for a week and still made NO payments on the Repair Order. The auto repair garage is not your personal storage space AND YES- you have to pay for services rendered like all other consumers do.
Harry had to ABSORB your Repair Order bill of around $460.00. Harry decided against filing a police report on YOU again out of the kindness of his heart.
If you knew the vehicle was such a high theft item you would have gotten insurance on the vehicle AND taken it to a garage that stores high risk vehicles while being repaired.
Harry’s Automotive Inc has built a reputation on being an Honest, Fair and Equitable auto repair garage as well as having over 80 years of knowledge in the industry between Harry the owner and Bob the Shop Manager.
You don’t build a reputation and keep a customer base as Harry’s Automotive Inc has by “being a crook” as you put it.
The “poor judgement on your part” as you put it was not being honest with Harry about the entire situation. The vehicle was being sold or was sold to someone else. Not advising Harry that the vehicle was not insured-yet you felt that it was a high risk item for theft-thereby not giving Harry the opportunity to decline the job, not retrieving the vehicle when repairs were completed but you couldn’t retrieve the vehicle because you did not have the funds to pay for the repairs. You thought Harry’s garage would be your free storage place for the vehicle until you could pay for the repairs
AGAIN, that’s not how auto repair garages work.
Harry paid you the same amount that you sold the vehicle for so in the end Harry lost money not you Mr. Cordero.
Actions like yours Mr. Cordero may likely find their way back to you full circle someday.
