Only bring your car if you want scammed out of thousands
Not to sound cliché, but can I leave a negative review. To be fair, I'll leave names out. By far the most unprofessional, rude and scam artists I've ever come across. When my engine died under warranty, K*** would only reply via text and I'd get a reply usually 7+ days later for over three months.
When my car stopped accelerating, I first asked for the manager after being disrespected by K*** too many times to count - saying negative customer interaction is being nice. I called and asked for the manager, J** who first tried to have a "Customer Satisfaction Expert" call me back, who I politely told would not be able to handle my issue.
J** then took two days to call back and, even though I left two thorough voicemails explaining the issue and my refusal to work with K***, he called and simply said, "what's up?"
What's up? If you listened to the two detailed messages, you'd be caught up, sir.
I again explained the issue and he said to bring it in and give me a rental, not a loaner, but a $45 rental that I had for less than three hours.
Want to take a guess who he put in charge of my car? Yes, K***, the king of avoidance. He said I needed a new Turbocharger for $3,500.
I felt suspicious and brought my car to Hyundai of Schaumburg. First, customer service is the opposite of Palatine where everyone comes off as bothered by you, hating their job or both.
I didn't say anything about what Palatine said, though I'm sure it's in the system. In less than an hour I was told that there was a part attached to the Turbocharger that had a crack and it'd be *LESS THAN" $1,100. But difference from a $3.5k Turbocharger that, if I believed shady K***, I'd have gotten my car back and still have the original since their inability to diagnose the real issue would have then caused another appointment and maybe then they'd have gotten it right, but I'd be out $3.5k.
These folks are scam artists, and since they only want to speak over text, it's nice I still have the thread, full of rudeness from K***, plus the lies about my Turbocharger that was actually fine, but he / they just wanted to make an extra buck or two.
That said, if something doesn't sound right or you feel you should get a second opinion, go to Hyundai of Schaumburg (where you'll also get an actual loaner and not be charged $45 for two hours of use).
