The other two codes were thermostat and cooling fan issues. After a series of tests, Brit determined both thermostats needed replacing. With the new thermostats, another set of tests were completed, and everything checked out. However, the radiator developed a pinhole leak that left a big puddle on the floor. So a new radiator was installed by Brit as well.
The truck seems to be running great! I want to thank Brit for doing excellent work! The engine compartment looked neat and very clean. Finding a good diesel mechanic/technician seems rare. But Excel Diesel seems to find them. Stone, a previous team member, and now Brit seem to be extremely good diesel technicians. In my experience, Excel Diesel technicians perform the work necessary and don’t add unnecessary work. Thank you!!
While the truck was in the shop, I also got an oil change and swapped out the fluids in my differential and transmission. I use my truck exclusively for towing a 18-19 thousand pound fifth wheel. So finding a shop that shares my views on regular maintenance and keeping the truck in tip top shape is very valuable.
Thanks to Brit and Sean for being up front about the needed maintenance, and judiciously fixing the required problems to fix the engine light.
