Traveling from Dallas to Lubbock Texas on a Friday afternoon.
Three miles outside of Seymour Texas we broke down.
Two hours of waiting on the side of the road and the Sheriff stopped to help us.
Darby, the Sheriff, asked what we wanted to do and where we would like to take the car.
Of course we didn’t know so the Darby had our car towed to Double C Service Center, who services the Borden County Sheriff’s Department vehicles.
Darby gave us a ride in her vehicle and on arrival to Double C she got Randy the owner, introduced us,and he took it from there.
Randy determined what the extent of the repairs would be but unfortunately it was Friday afternoon and Randy was unable to get the part until Monday.
We began to work on getting to Lubbock.
It was late afternoon and a two and a half hour drive from Lubbock to Seymour for family to pick us up. This put us way past their closing time plus the weather wasn’t looking good between Seymour and Lubbock.
Randy’s wife, Cindy, was listening to us explain how all of this would play out and she said hold on a minute.
In just a few moments both Randy and Cindy came to the waiting area and they offered us a loaner truck to make the trip back home and to be able to pick our car up with a lot less confusion.
Next is probably what I should have written in short form but it just wouldn’t say what needed to be said.
We were not treated just like a customer from out of town but we were treated like we were friends or even better, like family.
We will never drive through Seymour without a smile on our face because Seymour is not just a town we pass through on our journey any longer. We know we have people who care for not only the local folks but for everyone.
We will never forget how we were treated.
