À propos

Butler Automotive was founded in 1975 by Bill Butler. The original location was on 12th Street in downtown Augusta. A lot has changed since then, but some things haven’t…. new or used, all cars and trucks need maintenance! And the better the maintenance, the longer you’ll enjoy trouble-free driving.

Critical air hose was not reconnected, causing dirt and rocks in VVT assembly.
A couple months ago, I took my truck in because the engine cooling fan would not shut off after I removed the keys from the ignition. I took my truck to Butler and was told the thermostat had failed and needed to be replaced. The repair came to roughly $1300. Within weeks to come, my check engine light would periodically turn on and turn off here and there. So, I took my truck back to Butler Auto, but the problem could not be pinpointed.

A trip to Jekyll Island this week caused the check engine light to turn back on, so I called Butler Auto to explain the problem while driving back home from the beach. The disinterested person on the other end of the line said “I have no idea what the problem is, could be 300 reasons why that light came on.” Why would you talk to a customer like that? One of the most valueless conversations I have had with any employee from any organization. Thank you for your help, Sir.

Being that Butler is closed on Saturdays, I had to take my truck elsewhere to address the check engine light. I went to Precision Auto on Washington Rd. I was later asked if anyone had recently worked on the thermostat. I replied with a profound YES, it was Butler Automotive. They told me that whoever worked on the thermostat failed to reconnect the FRESH AIR BREATHER HOSE, which caused dirt, grime, and small rocks to get into the VVT valves and oil, which was subsequently identified as the culprit of the check engine light on the dashboard. Due to the lack of care in the work that was done by Butler Auto, the VVT pieces needed to be replaced along with an early oil change, costing me another $1055 in total.

Why didn't Butler Auto reconnect that hose? I have no idea.

This makes me wonder if Butler Auto purposely deceived me.

Butler Auto, you owe me an explanation. You are to blame for the additional THOUSAND dollars I had to spend elsewhere. This is not ok.
