Frustrating Experience, Poor Communication, and Inconsistent Information
I recently visited Bay Hyundai Service for an oil change and also requested a transmission service. When I arrived, I was quoted for both services and told it would take around three hours. I left my vehicle and returned after the estimated time expecting the work to be completed.

Instead, I was told they couldn’t perform the transmission service because it was a “sealed unit” and supposedly never needs servicing. When I explained that I was requesting the service because I noticed some hesitation in how the vehicle was shifting, the service representative brushed it off and told me his wife’s car does the same thing and “there’s nothing you can do about it.” That response was both dismissive and unprofessional.

After I questioned the validity of the “sealed unit” claim, the rep contacted the parts department—who contradicted his story, provided a price, and said they didn’t have the two types of fluid needed in stock. When I pointed out the inconsistent information and noted that the pricing he now gave me was different from what I was quoted initially, he then claimed he wasn’t the one who originally checked me in.

Frustrated by the back-and-forth, I asked to speak with the service manager. I explained my concerns about the conflicting explanations and overall lack of clarity. The manager attempted to backtrack and said the service could be done after all and offered to schedule it. At that point, I had lost confidence in their ability to perform the job correctly and declined.

To make matters worse, no one contacted me during the three-hour wait to inform me that the requested service could not be completed. I had to track down the representative myself just to get an update—only to find out that only the oil change was done, and even that took the full three hours.

In the end, I left with serious concerns about the service department’s knowledge, communication, and overall professionalism. I won’t be returning, and I would caution others to think twice before trusting this location with their vehicle.
