I bought a brand-new Volkswagen in 2018, and ever since then, I’ve taken it to the dealership every year for its regular service. This year, I was told the car needed a PCV valve replacement, and the estimate from the dealer was about $950 for the part and labor. I decided to do a little research before committing to that price. After checking online, I discovered that the dealership’s price was more than twice what I was finding for the same repair elsewhere. Over the years, I’ve learned that finding an auto repair shop you can trust isn’t always easy. There are plenty of shops that will overcharge you, but in my experience, dealerships can be especially good at adding a healthy markup to their prices. So, I started researching Volkswagen repair shops around the Portland area and feel like I really lucked out when I found Autohaus Bayern in Beaverton. It’s been three days since Marshall Morrill, the Service Manager, and his team replaced the PCV valve, and the car is running like brand new again. And the best part? The total cost was less than half of what the dealer quoted me. Needless to say, Autohaus Bayern will be servicing my Volkswagen from now on. I’m done paying dealership prices and their markups when I can get excellent service from people who know Volkswagens and charge a fair price.
