Tried to scam us
Took the car in for a noisy alternator replacement which we purchased at O'Reillys and an oil change. Manager called after several hours to tell us we needed an electrical cable and a serpentine belt. I authorized the work. I asked about the alternator and manager said they hadn't done that yet. Manager called 2 hours later to tell me it wasn't the alternator. It was an internal engine problem with timing adjusters. A repair of almost $2000. I told him I wasn't going to spend $2000 on this vehicle with almost 200,000 miles on it. He agreed the car wasn't worth enough to justify the expense. I told him I'd send it to the scrap yard first. The next day I went to pick up the vehicle and after seeing a bill for almost $500, I complained that he shouldn't have done there serpentine belt and cable replacement before diagnosing the alternator problem. He looked at me blankly but said he discounted the bill $100. I paid the bill and got in my vehicle. I noticed the alternator I had purchased was not there. I went back into the office and told him I wanted my alternator. He went into the shop and brought me a box with a used alternator in it. I asked where the new one was. He said they installed it. I asked him why they installed a new alternator when there was nothing wrong (according to him) with my alternator. He said I told him to. I asked why I would ever tell him to put a new alternator on a car I was going to scrap and he said I told him to. That is not true. When I argued with him, he called the police. The good news is that I drove the car home. There is no more noise. I do not need a $2000 repair. What a scammer. I have used this shop numerous times in the past under the previous owner, Moe. The new guy is not honest. I'll never go back.
