Very clean, nice knowledgeable people, extremely friendly, extraordinarily expensive.
My car broke down and I chose this place due to the proximity. And being a AAA approved shop. Very clean, very nice people, knowledgeable. Labor is essentially $200 an hour. So beware, unless you are rolling in dough. My recommendation would be to be towed to Astoria. Not because it's a good mechanic but because even the very simplest of repairs is going to cost you at least $300. I wasn't unhappy with the dedication of the people, but I'm going to be breaking rocks in the hot sun in debtors prison. Get your car towed either way further uptown or frankly Astoria.

My car broke down and needed to be towed. The guys at the shop fixed it up at a reasonable price and were friendly and professional.

Quick and knowledgeable service.
Walk in customer and needed a new battery. Was able to get it replaced same day in about 30 minutes. Professional and knowledgeable staff throughout.

Excellent Autocenter
We at Biscuits and Bath have had all of our 5 vans serviced at 54th. ST. Autocenter for more than 15 years with ( O ) problems. They take real pride at what they do and advise when needed. I will look no further for a mechanic to service our vans.

Go anywhere else.
The shop I was towed to, 54 West Auto, absolutely preys on AAA customers who think they are getting a deal. I was charged $230 per Goodyear tire, I have never in my life paid more than $140 per tire. The 10% discount offered was only on labor, so it did not save me any money and certainly resulted in me spending significantly more on this repair than I would have at a retail repair shop.

I am glad that I am safe and now able to use my vehicle, but this $650 repair is much more money than I have to spare at this moment. I feel like a victim to some scam, shame on you all.

We're sorry to hear that you felt the cost to repair your vehicle was higher than expected. We reviewed your bill for accuracy and confirmed that you were charged correctly for the two tires that were replaced on your vehicle. Please keep in mind that you made fully aware of the price and approved replacement of the tires. You could have easily taken your car somewhere else if you were unhappy with the price. Mid-town Manhattan are often higher than rates found outside the city.  Located in Hell's kitchen, we are actually the lowest priced shop in our area. We know this because we survey our local market on a monthly basis.
